I got an offer from Brooks about a month before Induction Day at Cooperstown, 2002. He said, if I could make the trip that he would get my wife, Kirstin, and I tickets in the players' section for Ozzies' induction. Hello....American Airlines? 2 tickets from Los Angeles to Albany, New York, please! We met up with Brooks at the Otsega Hotel, headquarters for the players attending. Brooks just finished his typical round of golf when we met for a brief chat and to pick up the tickets. It was the first time that Kirstin had met Brooks in person. After our brief visit and a couple of pictures she walked away shaking her head. Being the good judge of character that she is, she said, that she had never met someone in such a brief moment in time who was more kind and had such a sparkle in their eyes. Now, she continued, I see why everyone that meets Brooks is so glad that they did.
